After browsing AB for years, I always notice a sudden influx of brand new members each time a big tournament like World Cup is around the corner. No doubt that we should welcome new membership with open arms, some of these unscrupulous individuals have certain agenda detrimental to AB's atmosphere.
E.g. posting picks for monetary benefits (selling tips), irresponsibly mislead members with fanciful titles (********, Insider Info), flaming other members, finding fault with other members or admins, etc.
I believe that many of these accounts are only seasonal and their owners are likely to abandon their nicks and never be seen again. I understand that currently AB has a structure as below and less established members have less privilege compared to other senior / contributing members.
- Junior Member Less Than 20 Posts - Active Member More 20 Posts - Senior Member More Than 300 Posts - Veteran Member More Than 1,000 Posts - Master Member More Than 2,000 Posts - Bronze Member More Than 5,000 Posts - Silver Member More Than 10,000 Posts
Perhaps these brand new members should undergo a probation / restriction to prevent them from 'flooding' the main football forums? How about only allowing Senior Members to post picks in Main Football Forums like WC / EC / Copa. We need QUALITY in members, not QUANTITY. These members have all year long to post in any other major leagues to establish themselves as a budding tipster before these major tournaments.
Thank you for your kind consideration and it's really not my intention to offend any party.
Personally, I have no issue as long as they toe the line. Who’s to say that they won’t pledge their loyalty after the World Cup and go on to achieve great things in AB. I’m in a good mood today though after finally being able to thank Bro Bin personally. Shall await the admins input on this matter.

I agree with wembly. We are fine as long as they toe the line. And if they don't, that's the reason we admins/mods are here.
Nice_Guy, while your input is commendable, it might also backfire cos of the 'waiting period'. It will discourage potential genuine members from joining.
Advertisers will only look for places where there's traffic and of course traffic will attract spammers too and that's why we admins/mods are here.
if we make it difficult for members to post then we will be on a downhill track to obsolescence. current system works well for 20 years, no reason to change it. besides, brand new members have posting cool down restrictions already.
