Are you ready for sports betting in the footballers’ final?

Ajax vs Manchester United

It has all the hallmarks of being the footballers’ final.

Two great institutions with great traditions and heritage.

Two clubs which have brought us greats that have spanned the eras from George Best and Johan Cruyff to Ryan Giggs and Patrick Kluivert.

Two clubs with a pedigree for winning in style.

Football games between these two are usually eminently watchable, and the betting odds offer tantalising prospects for both.

This time, Stockholm is the venue for a major European final – the Europa League final – and the chance for two clubs to end their campaigns on a high.

Ajax missed out on the Eredivisie for the third season in a row, despite taking the title race to the last day, and would love to crown the progress of this young side with a victory.

Manchester United already have silverware following February’s League Cup success but victory in this one would make it a very successful maiden season for Jose Mourinho, not to mention a return to the Champions League in September.

The young Dutch side could contain 18-year-old Justin Kluivert, son of Patrick, who may even be marked by Daley Blind, son of Danny Blind and a team-mate of Kluivert senior when Ajax won the Champions League in 1995.

In a further twist, Blind junior was part of their team which won four consecutive Dutch titles before Louis van Gaal, manager of the 1995 Ajax vintage, took him to Old Trafford in 2014.

In truth, there will be more pressure on United in Sweden as they prepare to play their 64th and final match of an exerting campaign – their second longest ever.

They need to win to qualify for the Champions League next season, whereas Ajax are already guaranteed a play-off place after finishing runners-up in the Dutch league.

This really is a showpiece which could go either way, but I have to plump for United with a 🌟🌟🌟 tip of Asian Handicap -0.75 @ 2.08.

It’s experience versus youth in Stockholm and the winner will take it all – rather fitting in the country which gave us Abba.

Red Delight in Stockholm on a big Night for Manchester

Ajax 0-2 Manchester United

Goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan gave Manchester United an emotionally charged and vital win in the Europa League Final at the Friends Arena in Stockholm.

Football betting pundits had predicted a tight game with pre-match betting odds of 2.02 for a United win and Ajax at 3.45, but on the night, the big match experience of the Red Devils won through.

This young, and richly talented, Ajax side will have better nights and, at an average age of 22, they have many huge football games to look forward to. But, in such a sad week for the city of Manchester, United gave Mancunians back home something to smile about with a top class display.

They needed a huge slice of luck to go ahead though; Juan Mata latched onto a sloppy Ajax throw on 18 minutes and the ball ended up at the feet at Paul Pogba. The Frenchman’s shot took a wicked deflection to leave Andre Onana stranded in the Dutch goal to send the Red fans wild.

There was more than a nod to total football in Ajax play as the youngsters dominated possession, but the Reds defence kept wonder kid Kasper Dolberg at bay, Bertrand Traore posing the biggest threat. But they lacked the incision they needed whereas United used the height and strength of Marouane Fellaini to get the ball forward quickly.

And the game was over early in the second half when Chris Smalling met a corner, to tee up Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the lethal Armenian hooked the ball high into the net.

Ajax continued to knock the ball around well but never really threatened a fight back as United saw the game out with relative ease. It was a good experience for this promising Ajax side and will stand them in good stead.

But for United it means so much more; Champions League football and with it vindication for boss Jose Mourinho. And for the great City of Manchester, a much needed reason to be cheerful.

Betting Odds Show Lyon can Stop the Italians

The opening Europa League night was a good one for Serie A, with its three teams all winning well. This week, however, it may not be so easy for the Italians.

This week’s Europa football games send Atalanta to Lyon in Group E, in the tie of the round, and sports betting fans have a difficult choice to make.

GROUP STAGE WEEK 2 FRIDAY:

Lyon vs Atalanta

Atalanta are at tempting odds of 3.30 to win with Lyon clear favourites at 1.93. That may surprise you after Atalanta started their campaign with a resounding 3-0 win over Everton while Bruno Genesio’s Lyon failed to beat Apollon. Both have started their domestic season modestly - Lyon winning four and losing three in Ligue 1, while Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta have won, drawn and lost two games in Serie A. Former Manchester United striker Memphis Depay scored for Lyon in the opener and is one to watch again.

Lazio vs Zulta Waregem

Lazio should have no such trouble at home to Zulta having already registered a win, coming from behind to beat Vitesse Arnem 2-3, while their opponents were thumped 1-5 at home to Nice. Ciro Immobile is in great form for Lazio and the hosts are available at odds of 1.81 to win with a handicap of -1.75.

AC Milan vs Rijeka

The third Italian representative should have an equally successful night when they entertain Rijeka. Milan can take a firm grip on Group D, having won 1-5 away to Austria Vienna, Andre Silva scoring a hat-trick while Rijeka lost at home to AEK Athens.

BATE Borisov vs Arsenal

BATE are unbeaten in six matches in all competitions and earned an impressive point, drawing with Red Star Belgrade thanks to a Nikolay Signevich equaliser. The Gunners started with a win, Alexis Sanchez scoring a beauty, in their opening clash with Cologne which was delayed by crowd trouble. They’ll hope for a more peaceful night and are at 2.00 to win with a -1.25 handicap.

Everton vs Apollon Limassol

Everton got a much needed win in the Premier League after a poor start, having made an equally dismal showing in their Europa opener, losing 3-0 to Atalanta. Apollon held Lyon to a draw so they may not be the pushover the Toffees would expect.

Zenit St Petersburg vs Real Sociedad

La Liga representatives Real Sociedad started with a big win in Group L, thrashing Rosenborg 4-0 with a double strike from Diego Llorente. But Zenit went one further with a 0-5 rout away in Vardar. This will be a tough test for the Spanish side, which have stuttered in La Liga after a strong start.

Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Villarreal

Villarreal have stuttered so badly that they have sacked manager Fran Escriba after six games. They also struggled in their Europa League opener, winning 1-3 against Kazakhstan minnows Astana, thanks to two late goals. Maccabi lost in Prague so the Yellow Submarine can hope this game heralds a new dawn.

Gunners on Fire but the Toffees Melt Under the Spotlight

Theo Walcott was on target twice as Arsenal returned from Belarus with a well-earned win in the Europa League. Meanwhile, the pressure mounts on Everton as the Toffees failed to beat Apollon Limassol when the Cypriots defied the betting odds at Goodison Park.

And it was a mixed night for La Liga and Serie A teams in an entertaining series of Euro football games.

BATE Borisov 2-4 Arsenal

There hasn’t been much talk of Theo Walcott among Premier League betting fans so far this season, as his uninspiring start has seen him drop down the pecking order at the Emirates, but he did himself no harm last night, hitting an early double to stamp his authority all over BATE Borisov. Rob Holding and Olivier Giroud also scored for the Gunners, while Mirko Ivanic pulled one back and Mikhail Gordeichuk grabbed a consolation.

Everton 2-2 Apollon Limassol

Ronald Koeman wanted his team to show fight after they were thumped by Atalanta, but on this evidence, they couldn’t punch their way out of a paper bag! Wayne Rooney and Nikola Vlasic looked to be steering the hosts to a 2-1 win over the 10-men of Cyprus until Hector Yuste headed a late equaliser.

Elsewhere, it took a 94th-minute Patrick Cutrone strike for AC Milan to beat Rijeka 3-2 after the battling visitors fought back from a two-goal deficit. Ciro Immobile was on target again as Lazio saw off Waregem 2-0. Atalanta couldn’t make it three from three for the Italian teams sharing the points in a 1-1 draw in Lyon.

The badly out of sorts Real Sociedad had another setback, this time in Russia, where a two-goal strike from Aleksandr Kokorin inspired Zenit St Petersburg to a 3-1 win. Maccabi Tel Aviv and Villarreal played out a goalless draw.

Can there be Europa Joy for English Strugglers?

It hasn’t been a great week for Arsenal and Everton in the Premier league, so they may find respite in the Europa Cup; but then again…

Arsenal let down North London’s online betting fans by losing to a late goal against Watford so the Gunners might even be happy to run away to Belgrade, not the easiest place to visit at the best of times. Arsene Wenger’s team is joint favourite to win the Europa Cup at handicap betting odds of 7.00, the same as AC Milan. But football betting players may well take a look at the Premier League’s other representative, Everton, at a highly tempting price of 35.00. The Toffees need to show they can get it together though, and quickly.

GROUP STAGE WEEK 3 FRIDAY:

Crvena Zvezda vs Arsenal

There’s not much joy around the Emirates after Arsenal’s four-match winning run was ended by the Hornets on Saturday. Meanwhile, Red Star has won six in seven, scoring nine goals without reply in the last two games. Both are unbeaten in this competition so far and it will be a tight match. Arsenal is at 1.99 to win with a handicap of 0.75 goals

Everton vs Lyon

The Toffees drew at home to Apollon in their last Europa game and followed that with a league defeat to Burnley and then a draw with Brighton. Lyon are unbeaten in four but, like Everton, are yet to win in this competition. Everton is 2.24 to clear the gloom, Lyon at 2.84 to make matters worse for the hosts and the draw is at 3.10

Nice vs Lazio

Both of these teams are on six points and so this will go some way to deciding the group winner. It could be a good time for Lazio to travel to France on the back of a stunning win against Juventus while Nice suffered back to back defeats. But Alassane Plea has scored four Europa goals already for the hosts and will be a big threat.

AC Milan vs AEK Athens

Milan have lost three Serie A games in a row, with a little respite coming on a 3-2 win over Rijeka in the Europa Cup. With six points already to AEK’s four, this is a chance for Vincenzo Montella’s team to get back to winning ways and break away in this group.

Villarreal vs Slavia Prague

There’s a fascinating tussle in Spain where the Yellow Submarine, unbeaten in six home games, host a Slavia side which are unbeaten in five away from home. Both are yet to lose in their Europa group so something could give. If it doesn’t, a draw is available at 4.20.

When Sports Betting Pressure Grows on Managers

It’s no fun being a football manager, especially when times are hard.

Just ask most of the 16 coaches who saw their sides defeated in Europa League football games tonight and they will testify to that.

AC Milan boss Vincenzo Montella for one.

After three Serie A defeats on the bounce, and a big summer spending spree behind him, he could ill afford a home goalless draw with AEK Athens.

The betting odds on him surviving much longer in the post have just been cut that bit shorter, despite their domination in the San Siro.

Goalkeeper Giannis Anestis’ heroics may yet prove his downfall.

For Anestis in Italy, read Bertrand Traore in England.

For as well as Montella, there’s another fine footballer from his playing pomp (now turned manager) under every inch the same pressure.

Yes, the focus on Everton chief Ronald Koeman is just as intense.

After a woeful month in the Premier League, this evening’s outcome was something he too could have done without: a Europa League loss at home to Lyon – one which leaves them bottom of Group E

Whether or not this competition is an unwanted distraction for the Toffees, victory at Goodison Park would really have given the club a lift.

Just like Montella may rue the name Anestis if fortunes do not turn around quickly, so Koeman could be ultimately left cursing match-winner Traore or the woodwork which Gylfi Sigurdsson struck when the tie was level.

Like Milan, Everton spent big in the summer - £140 million to be precise – so their troubles are less likely to be tolerated by fans, nor at board level.

It’s easy to feel right now that Montella and Koeman are one big defeat away from the sack.

On this match day three of group matches, spare a thought too for Macedonian minnows FK Vardar, thrashed at home 6-0 by Real Sociedad in another of tonight’s ties.

Cedomir Janevski will likely feel as upset and angry as Koeman and Montella right now but, despite the demolition, his job is not under threat.

Funny how football works isn't it!

Could Euro Football Games Cause More Misery for Toffees?

Manager-less Everton take a trip to France on Thursday, and I doubt many Toffees fans are relishing the prospect despite Lyon being a lovely place.

Since dumping Coach Ronald Koeman, Everton have lost two more matches. Sports betting fans are beginning to look a little more closely at the odds of relegation, recently unthinkable on Merseyside. So a win in the Europa Cup would be a huge tonic for Everton and caretaker manager David Unsworth, who has designs on the job.

Things don’t look good with betting odds of 4.80 to win or even 3.95 to get a draw. Lyon sit third in Ligue 1 and have four consecutive wins to (almost) match Everton’s four consecutive defeats!

In the other Group E match, leaders Atalanta visit Apollon Limassol.

There’s a cracking game in Group D where leaders Milan head to Athens to face second-placed AEK. Vincenzo Montella’s men have stuttered a little in the league, but Andre Silva, with four Europa goals, has been a constant threat. At 2.15 to win, Milan are favourites, with the hosts at 2.95 and 3.15 the draw.

Lazio can take a stranglehold on Group K with a win, at odds of 1.56, over second-placed Nice. The draw is at 3.80, and an away win at 4.60 would draw Nice level with Lazio on nine points. But Lazio won seven on the bounce while Nice lost five!

Elsewhere, Arsenal can make it four wins from four at home to Crvena Zvezda in Group H; there’s a top-two clash in Group A where Slavia Prague hosts Villarreal, both on five points.

Everton’s Euro Exit means Survival is the Big Hope

Lyon put on a sizzling second half show to send Everton packing from Group E of the Europa League, which means Premier League survival is now the Toffees’ only target.

The Everton fans that enjoy online gambling with Asian Handicap Betting will have raised an eyebrow on seeing the team sheet. Interim coach David Unsworth had rested Wayne Rooney, Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka.

With a home match against Watford this weekend the league is a priority for Unsworth but winning football games, and losing them, is a habit. And the 3-0 drubbing won’t have helped confidence. Everton held out for three quarters of the game but then strikes from Bertrand Traore, Houssem Aouar and Memphis Depay booted the Merseysiders out with just a single point.

The win takes Lyon joint top of the group with Atalanta, after the Serie A club was held 1-1 by Apollon Limassol. Josip Ilicic fired Atalanta ahead from the penalty spot, but the hosts grabbed a last gasp point when Emilio Zelaya headed home on 94 minutes.

Arsenal progressed to the last 32 despite being held to a 0-0 draw with Crvena Zvezda in Group H, and Milan stays top of Group D and two points ahead of AEK Athens after the two teams played out a goalless draw in Greece.

An injury time own goal by Maxime Le Marchand was enough to see Lazio progress from Group K, with a 1-0 win over Nice, while Villarreal took control of Group A, Carlos Bacca putting the Yellow Submarine on course for a 0-2 win away to Slavia Prague.

There’s More to Watch Out For in the Europa League!

The Europa League returns this week, and it can't get any better than this as the tournament enters the crucial Week 5 that can make or break the hopes of the teams aiming to make it to the next round.

Sure enough, it will be another action-packed live betting event with several football games to watch. However, with Arsenal and Lazio the only clubs from Europe's Top 5 leagues that are already assured of a ticket to the next stage, all eyes will be on the other heavyweights to perform and live up to the betting odds.

La Liga clubs Villareal and Real Sociedad are in pretty good positions to advance, but they can't let their guard down with the points close in their respective groups.

The Yellow Submarine visit Astana to battle for the top of Group A and a ticket to the Round of 32, while Sociedad take a trip to Lerkendal Stadion with the chance to pull away for good from Group L third-placers Rosenborg.

Moreover, another Spanish giant Athletic Bilbao face a tall order against Bundesliga side Hertha BSC. Both sides are separated by only a point in Group J and a win here will be crucial to salvaging their European dreams.

German outfits Hoffenheim and FC Koln, meanwhile, are fighting for survival. They are currently out of the qualifying places, so they both need to win their remaining games. Despite being at tight odds of 1x2 @ 2.47, however, the Billy Goats won't fancy their chances as they are up against the Gunners this week.

In Group K, which Lazio dominated, Ligue 1 strugglers OGC Nice have an opportunity to make it up to their fans by securing the second place. A defeat to Belgium's Zulte Waregem, nonetheless, will put them in a perilous situation of possibly exiting the competition.

On the other hand, France's Lyon and Italy's Atalanta need just a point to make it through Group E, and they are in for some luck as they face the bottom teams—with Atalanta expected to dominate against the slumping and already out Everton at Asian Handicap -0.25 @ 1.94.

Group D leaders AC Milan shouldn't be forgotten as well. Vincenzo Montella's men might be having a hard time catching up in Serie A, but they are undefeated in the group and should be able to delight against Austria Wien.

There are still a total of 19 spots left to be filled, and that should make for an exciting week of European football fixtures. And with how things are looking, there will be certainly fireworks this Friday!

Europa Big Guns are on the Way to Scandinavia

The two favourites for Europa glory have been handed very winnable football games in the last 32 after today’s draw.

An early Champions League exit has left Atletico Madrid as favourites on most betting websites and a tie with FC Copenhagen in the first knockout stage of the Europa League won’t change that. The Danish club don’t have to face the likes of Antoine Griezmann in its domestic league and the La Liga giants will be at very small betting odds to go through.

Then there’s the visit of Arsenal to look forward to for Swedish outfit Ostersunds, a reward for coming joint top of Group J. Ostersunds are managed by former West Brom star Graham Potter who has taken the minnows from the fourth tier to Sweden’s top division. Alexis Sanchez and co are taking on a team in confident mood but should prosper.

The tie of the round sees Champions League flops Borussia Dortmund, having just sacked their coach Peter Bosz, face Serie A side Atalanta,. Lyon, who will host this year’s final, have been paired with Villarreal after the Yellow Submarine topped Group A.

The other Italian teams have Central and Eastern European opposition as Napoli meet RB Leipzig while Lazio are paired with Steaua Bucharest. Meanwhile, seven-time Champions of Europe Milan must overcome Ludogrets.

They should all qualify but I bet you one thing, we’ll see plenty of gloves!

No Room for Mistakes for the Gunners in the Europa League

Europa League Round of 32

Currently sixth in the Premier League and seven points off the fourth place, Arsenal are once again in danger of missing the Champions League. Nonetheless, they still have a chance in the Europa League football games, which they will hope to use to secure their way to Europe's biggest stage.

The Gunners face Swedish side Ostersunds FK in the Round of 32 this week, and betting odds suggest they are off to a relatively easy time. Arsene Wenger's men are at 1.06 to advance to the next round and are even tipped at -1.00 @ 2.04 on Asian Handicap betting.

Arsenal are no longer in the FA Cup and, though that might be frustrating for fans, it puts them at an advantage as they can now focus in the second-tier continental competition.

Despite being the only English team remaining, however, Arsenal can't afford to relax. They won't be with the ineligible Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and it won't help that Alexandre Lacazette is short in confidence right now. Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud are also gone, which will certainly put the Gunners' depth to the test.

Ostersunds are a capable side as well and could spring a surprise if given the opening. After their meteoric rise in Sweden's top division, they have proven in Europa that they can take on the big boys—as seen in their group stage draws with the likes of Athletic Bilbao and Hertha BSC.

To add more pressure to the Gunners, they are not the only heavyweights in the tournament. In fact, they are only second to Atletico Madrid (4.80) to lift the trophy. The Spanish giants face FC Copenhagen in this round and are expected to dominate.

Not to mention that there are also teams from top European competitions such as La Liga clubs Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal; Serie A outfits Napoli, Atalanta, Lazio and AC Milan;  and Bundesliga contenders RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund.

Indeed, Arsenal have no room for any slip-ups from here on out. All teams in the contest will eye for that precious Champions League spot, so it will surely be a difficult road full of goals, drama and surprises!

Can the Big Boys Finish What They Started?

Europa League Round of 32 (2nd Leg)

After a brilliant showing in the first set of Europa League football games, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan will now look to keep the betting odds swinging in their favour.

The six online betting heavyweights from Europe's top competitions already have one foot at the last 16, but some of them can't afford to relax just yet as anything, even a stunning reversal, can still happen.

Arsenal seem already destined for the next round following their 3-0 drubbing of Ostersund. Despite missing key strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Gunners made easy work of the Swedish side and should be able to do so again at the Emirates.

The same goes for Atletico Madrid, who now return home after a 4-1 victory over Copenhagen, and AC Milan who fired three unanswered goals against Ludogorets.

It's a different story for Bilbao, Leipzig and Dortmund, however. Bilbao did beat Spartak Moscow by a two-goal margin, but it should be remembered the Russian side was a Champions League qualifier. FC Spartak are also playing solidly on the road and should be a threat to the Spanish outfit.

Meanwhile, Leipzig left it late to beat Napoli in the first tie. While it could work to their advantage that Napoli are more focused on their Serie A title chase, it's still difficult to write off a team that is fighting toe-to-toe against Juventus in Italy's top flight.

Dortmund, on the other hand, are in a perilous situation. They failed to get a comfortable lead against Atalanta in the first game, so they need to score more and keep their defence tight on the second leg. Fortunately for BVB, they are on a roll after the acquisition of Michy Batshuayi, while Atalanta are in a slump and have lost three and drew one of their last five home matches.

Other games to watch out for are the Red Star Belgrade-CSKA Moscow, Real Sociedad-Red Bull and AEK-Dynamo Kyiv matchups. All three teams played out a stalemate the last time out which should make for a thrilling second leg.

Fans should also keep an eye on Lazio and OGC Nice as the two will eye to turn around their fortunes after losing last week against FCSB and Lokomotiv Moscow, respectively.

It was a Nervous Win for the Bundesliga

The Europa League's knockout stages saw the Bundesliga clubs square off against some of the Serie A's best, and German football betting players were taken to the edge of their seats.

Betting odds for the Napoli-RB Leipzig and the Borussia Dortmund-Atalanta games were close, given the level of competition at the Italian top flight has been as well as the inconsistent form of the German giants. Betting tips were all over the place as punters relied on their gut feeling.

The Leipzig faithful is thankful that Timo Werner secured the third goal in their away leg as Maurizio Sarri's boys overpowered them in the second leg. Piotr Zielinski and Lorenzo Insigne made the most out of the Light Blues' 54% possession and won the game 0-2. The extra away goal ensured Leipzig's survival in the tournament.

The BVB were also in a tight predicament when they headed to Atalanta. They were a goal behind after Josip Ilicic's brace gave the Nerazzurri the aggregate advantage. Marcel Schmelzer's goal ensured that Michy Batshuayi's efforts weren't in vain, ending the series with a one-goal lead for Dortmund.

The other games in the Europa League saw the big boys secure their overwhelming leads.

Olympique Lyonnais ensured that their 3-1 advantage over Villareal was secured. Bertrand Traore's 85th-minute strike sealed the exit of their Spanish hosts, ending the game in a 4-1 win for the Ligue 1 regulars.

Arsenal did enough damage against Ostersunds FK in the first leg of their clash (a 0-3 away win) that the goals of Hosam Aiesh and Ken Sema mattered little to the final outcome. While Sead Kolasinac's goal sealed the aggregate victory, Arsene Wenger knows that he has much work to do when it comes to his team's defensive tactics.

Atletico Madrid added a home goal to their 1-4 rout of Kobenhavn, while Celtic was shooed out of the competition after Zenit outgunned them in St. Petersburg. Lazio cancelled out FCSB's lead with a five-goal rampage and Dynamo Kyiv outlasted AEK Athens on away goals.

We can count on the next round to be as exciting as this!

Here are Two Big Beasts Hoping for Better Times

AC Milan vs Arsenal

With a respectable nod to the goings-on in Marseille, there’s only one main sports betting focus in Europe’s second competition this week.

For all the football games in the Round of 16, this one would not be out of place in the final of its sister competition, the Champions League.

That’s not a football prediction based on the classes of 2018 but on the proud history of an Italian and English heavyweight.

Step forward AC Milan and Arsenal.

The seven-time European champions meet the north Londoners with both clubs reflecting on better days gone by.

There is history between these two.

As recently as 2012, they clashed in the Champions League when Milan blitzed the Gunners 4-0 in the first leg and then held on, despite a spirited fightback at the Emirates which saw Arsenal run out 3-0 winners.

Four years earlier, the tables had been turned when Arsenal eliminated the then European champions, Gennaro Gattuso et al., on their own turf with a 2-0 victory in the San Siro.

Ahead of this meeting, football has been put in perspective.

Milan may be fresher after their weekend game was called off. However, following the tragic death of Italy defender Davide Astori, the fact they have lost one of their own—Astori started his career with the Rossoneri although never played a competitive match for them—will have shocked the club.

On the pitch in recent months, Gattuso has overseen a steady return to form after the false dawn at the start of the campaign when a big spending summer has sparked high expectations.

They are currently 13 matches unbeaten, with 10 victories, in all competitions and have reached the final of the Coppa Italia. During this stretch, Gattuso has overseen a substantial improvement from his players, especially from the likes of Giacomo Bonaventura, Franck Kessie, Davide Calabria, and young goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

They welcome Arsenal to Italy who, in contrast, seem a club in regression.

The side is currently lacking leadership, cohesion, commitment and, on the surface, belief in their manager Arsene Wenger.

Losing twice in a week to English champions-elect Manchester City can be forgiven, but to lose to Brighton in the manner they did was embarrassing. Wenger might be the source of the problem, but he deserves more from many of his underperforming players.

It does seem like Wenger’s long goodbye has started.

Yet, we’ve been here before and maybe, just maybe, the San Siro can be the venue for Arsenal to recover some credibility.

Gear Up for More Intense Europa Football Games!

Europa League Quarter-Final

And then there were eight...

From the 48 teams in the group stage, the Europa League is now down to eight. It couldn't get more exciting as well given that Europe's top-five leagues are well represented in the competition.

Premier League side Arsenal remain in the tournament and are one of the online betting favourites to lift the title, along with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid. Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, Serie A side Lazio and Ligue 1 team Marseille, however, are more than capable of defying the betting odds and pulling off some upsets.

Teams like CSKA Moscow and Sports CP shouldn't be counted out too. After all, the two also came from the Champions League!

Lazio vs Red Bull Salzburg

In Ciro Immobile, Lazio have a player who assures them goals night in and night out. The Italian striker, who boasts a league-leading 26 goals in Serie A, even scored four of the club's nine goals in their last three Europa outings!

He will be pivotal once again as Lazio host a Salzburg side that is currently on a high. The Red Bulls are at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga and are brimming with confidence after ousting Borussia Dortmund and Real Sociedad from the competition.

Defence will be the problem for Lazio, though, as they have already conceded seven goals in their last five in all competitions. Salzburg, in contrast, have produced three straight clean sheets. Considering all these factors, betting on Salzburg Asian Handicap +0.75 @ 1.89 seems the best choice.

Atletico Madrid vs Sporting Lisbon

Sporting CP boss Jorge Jesus knows what they are facing when they visit the Wanda Metropolitano this week. Atletico Madrid are strong and difficult to stop, especially with Antoine Griezmann leading the way.

The visitors' manager even compared the French talisman to Lionel Messi and claimed that Griezmann is tougher to neutralise!

Indeed, for Sporting, all they can do is beef up their defence and pray. However, the fact that Griezmann, Diego Costa and Fernando Torres are well rested for Atletico won't put the Lions' hopes up.

Expect goals to come in this game, so go for Over 2.50 @ 2.01.

RB Leipzig vs Marseille

Riding a six-game unbeaten streak, Leipzig play Olympique Marseille at home with high hopes that they can build on their current momentum.

Leipzig are still out of the automatic Champions League qualification places in the German top flight, so they are determined to win it all here and use it as a backdoor to the biggest European competition.

Marseille will pose some threat after beating the likes of  Athletic Bilbao and Sporting Braga on their way to this stage. However, it should be noted that they have an ugly record in Germany, having failed to score in their last three visits to the country.

Both teams aren't good defensively, but the Bulls have the advantage on the offensive end with the likes of Timo Werner, Emil Forsberg and Naby Keita leading the attack. If you're punting, choose Leipzig -0.75 @ 1.91.

Arsenal vs CSKA Moscow

The result of this tournament could decide the future of Arsene Wenger in Arsenal.

With their hopes of finishing in the Premier League top four all but gone, Wenger needs to prove he can still deliver trophies and a European berth to the Gunners.

Wenger's selection in their latest EPL match with Stoke showed that he had an eye on this encounter with CSKA Moscow. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Laurent Koscielny were both rested while Alexandre Lacazette only had a cameo, albeit impressive, appearance.

Arsenal's hunger and the fact that they will be playing at the Emirates should prove enough in this matchup, even against a Russian outfit that is capable of staging a surprise—just like they did against Lyon last month.

I expect the Gunners to come out on top, but I don't think it will be a high-scoring affair. With that said, go for Goals Under 2.50 @ 2.13.

Arsenal are Gunning for Football Betting Glory

The first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals has just concluded, and things are looking up for Arsenal!

They may struggle when it comes to playing domestic football games, but Arsene Wenger at least made sure they won't buckle when it comes to European football. After their superb win against CSKA Moscow, we can be sure that betting odds will be overwhelmingly in their favour when they square off for the second leg.

Meanwhile, RB Leipzig, Atletico Madrid, and Lazio experienced varying degrees of success in their home legs.

RB Leipzig 1-0 Olympique Marseille

The Red Bulls of Germany made the most out of their Bundesliga momentum to keep Marseille from gaining an away goal at the Red Bull Arena. Ralph Hassenhuttl made sure that their solid 4-4-2 would not buckle to Marseille's attack-heavy formation. Timo Werner scored the only goal of the game while Dimitri Payet was successfully stopped.

Arsenal 4-1 CSKA Moskva

Aaron Ramsey gave the Emirates a reason to smile after suffering through a season of inconsistencies with his two goals in the Arsenal stomp. While Aleksandr Golovin skimmed down the Gunners' goal advantage to only two, Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette made sure that the entire thing was settled within the first 35 minutes. Moreover, they did all of this without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Atletico Madrid 2-0 Sporting CP

Atletico Madrid rolled out the gates strong after Diego Costa took the attention of both Sporting centre-backs to let Koke have the easiest goal of the game. Jorge Jesus' men tried fighting back with attacks that tested Jan Oblak, but Antoine Griezmann's strike secured the three points for the Rojiblancos.

SS Lazio 4-2 Red Bull Salzburg

Six goals were scored in this game, but the aggregate score is currently tied between Lazio and Salzburg.

Senad Lulic scored early, but Valon Berisha gave the visitors the advantage with a spot kick on the 30th minute. Marco Parolo evened the aggregate with his goal, and Salzburg substitute Takumi Minamoto immediately made his impact with a goal upon his entry. Down once more, it took Felipe Anderson and Ciro Immobile for Lazio to end the series on a deadlock.

It will be interesting how Simone Inzaghi will address the second leg as the Red Bulls will make it difficult for them to score.

Bet Online on Four Exciting Europa League Battles!

Europa League Quarter-Final

Last week's Europa League winners already have one foot in the semi-finals, but that doesn't mean the second-leg football games will be less thrilling.

Online gambling heavyweights Atletico Madrid and Arsenal know for a fact that a huge reversal isn't out of the question. The same goes for Lazio and RB Leipzig, who are more likely to lose their tickets to the final four given their current lead.

Indeed, anything can still happen and fans shouldn't write off an upset or two in this week's Europa spectacle.

Sporting Lisbon vs (0-2 on agg.) Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid are in fine form, going undefeated in their last three including a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in their recent derby. Antoine Griezmann also remains the ultimate offensive threat, with the Frenchman finding the back of the net in four of their last five games in all competitions.

Sporting Lisbon, however, won't go down without a fight. Not at Estadio Jose Alvalade where they have only lost once all season long—a 0-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League group stage last September. They went on a 20-game unbeaten streak at home since then while averaging 2.35 goals.

Atletico are still the favourites to move on to the next round, but Sporting can certainly manage a draw this time which pays at 3.40.

Red Bull Salzburg vs (2-4 on agg.) Lazio

Lazio scored four at home, but they also conceded two in the process which could well favour Salzburg when they host the Italian side.

Salzburg need to score two and hold Lazio scoreless to win this tie and move on to the semis. While that seems a difficult task, it's noteworthy to say that Salzburg are unbeaten in eight straight competitive home matches. In fact, they have scored 23 goals in that span!

Real Sociedad and Dortmund both failed to solve Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena, and I don't think Lazio can do it even with Ciro Immobile. With that said, betting on Salzburg 1X2 @ 2.23 is the best way to go.

CSKA Moscow vs (1-4 on agg.) Arsenal

Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are fighting for respectability and their lost glory, so it's no wonder why they were on fire in the first leg.

The Gunners are now on a six-game winning streak in all competitions, with Alexandre Lacazette, Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey combining for a total of 10 goals during that stretch.

The fact that Arsenal only have three clean sheets in their last ten outings will give CSKA Moscow some hope, but that is the only positive the Russian side can take as their lack of competitive matches put them at a great disadvantage. Go for Arsenal Asian Handicap -0.50 @ 2.01.

Marseille vs (0-1 on agg.) RB Leipzig

Marseille will be hungry for victory. After holding Leipzig to just one goal the last time out, the French side will now look to turn the tide and send the German club packing.

Sure enough, beating Leipzig remains a tall order. The Bulls have Timo Werner, Naby Keita and Emil Forsberg who are hard to stop when they have the momentum. Nonetheless, Marseille will still like their chances considering their solid defence.

Not to mention that Marseille haven't lost a Europa match at Stade Velodrome this campaign, all while keeping four clean sheets and allowing just four goals! Considering these factors, Marseille -0.25 @ 2.01 isn't a bad bet to make.

These Football Games Shocked Red Bull Fans!

The Europa League's final four clubs have been determined, and Red Bull supporters are probably puzzled as to how they will take the results of their football bets!

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are doing just fine with their respective football games. They will definitely be favoured by betting websites once the semi-finals have been determined.

Olympique Marseille 5-2 RB Leipzig (Marseille win 5-3 agg.)

Fans knew that Marseille would play very determined football to overcome the young Red Bulls, but few expected things to end up like this.

Bruma scored within the first five minutes of the game, building on their 1-0 lead in the first leg. However, strikes from Bouna Sarr and Florian Thauvin, as well as an own goal from Stefan Ilsanker, saw the visitors looking at a one-goal deficit.

Jean-Kevin Augustin quickly levelled the game, but Dimitri Payet and Hiroki Sakai put the game away for Marseille. It was a brilliant win for the Phocians, and the manner of their victory will be talked about by fans for years.

CKSA Moskva 2-2 Arsenal (Arsenal win 6-3 agg.)

Arsenal only needed a draw to secure their win, but Wenger's lads almost threw it all away.

Fedor Chalov and Kirill Nababkin put the hosts back in the map with their respective goals, threatening to make a huge upset. However, Mohamed Elneny saved the day for the Gunners. He made two vital assists that helped Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey to seal the game late.

Wenger would definitely want to see more consistency from his defenders, but his attackers are somewhat doing a great job for him.

Sporting CP 1-0 Atletico Madrid (Atletico win 2-1 agg.)

Just like the Gunners, Atletico Madrid only had to defend to secure their victory. However, Sporting made sure that their victory won't be handed to them easily.

The Lions made life a lot tougher for Jan Oblak, who had to pull off several amazing saves. Fredy Montero put the hosts within striking distance after a poor Oblak deflection allowed for him to make an easy header in front of goal.

The rest of the game saw beautiful, coordinated attacks by Sporting and Atletico Madrid. Both defences had their fair share of action as they tried to one-up the other.

Salzburg 4-1 SS Lazio (Salzburg win 6-5 agg.)

This is the most dramatic victory witnessed at this stage of the competition, be it the Europa or the Champions League.

Salzburg were heavy underdogs coming into the match, and Ciro Immobile's 55th-minute strike made it seem like the Austrian Red Bulls will be eliminated from the competition. However, that's when the magical run happened.

Mu'nas Dabbur opened the floodgates with a brilliant strike amongst Lazio shirts. A howitzer from Amadou Haidara, a perfect blitz from Hwang Hee-Chan, and a brilliant header by Stefan Lainer completed the most improbable comeback of the tournament.

How can the Gunners Smash Down Atletico’s Wall?

Arsenal take on Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi-final first leg this week, in the tie which football betting pundits expect will produce the champions.

And the big task facing the Gunners is to break down one of the best defences in Europe. Diego Simeone’s Atletico have conceded just 18 goals in 34 league football games, and that is the big factor which makes the Spaniards favourites at betting odds of 2.10 to win the trophy, with Arsenal at 3.50.

In the other semi-final Rudi Garcia’s Marseille are tipped to proceed to the final; though the visit of Marco Rose’s Saltzburg is no walk in the park.

Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid

Arsene Wenger’s announcement that he would leave at the end of the season prompted his players into an emotional 4-1 win at the weekend, and there is a unity around the Emirates we haven’t seen for some time. The players are keen to give Arsene the perfect send-off, and in Alexandre Lacazette they have a man who can puncture the brilliant Atletcio defence. But if he can get past Diego Godin and Stefan Savic, he still has to beat keeper Jan Oblak. That is some rearguard.

The favourites have been in patchy form of late, with one win in four, but Simeone rested Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Koke in a goalless home draw to Real Betis at the weekend. And while Diego Costa won’t be fit, according to Simeone, the Arsenal backline must be on its game to prevent a damaging away goal.

Marseille vs RB Salzburg

Rudi Garcia’s Marseille welcome Salzburg to the Stade Velodrome, and need to win the first leg to justify odds of 1.61 on their progress. After putting Leipzig out in the quarter finals, Marseille have had back-to-back victories in Ligue 1 and are in a three-way race for second place. Garcia has eyes on next year’s Champions League one way or another. Former West Ham star Dimitri Payet has three Europa goals, and if playing will be a thorn in Salzburg’s side.

But Marco Rose’s Salzburg are storming the Austrian Bundesliga and had a stunning quarter final victory against Lazio, recovering from a two-goal deficit by winning 4-1 on home turf, the dangerous Munas Dabbur scoring his fifth tournament goal.

Football Bets on Atletico for Europa Glory Look Just Fine

Antoine Griezmann struck a late goal for ten-man Atletico to give the La Liga giants a draw and a crucial away goal at the Emirates.

Live betting fans reacted quickly as Atletico went down to ten men early in the game, but the Spaniards defended brilliantly throughout, and got their reward when Griezmann fired home. Atletico started the game as favourites to lift the title at betting odds of 2.10, and they are set to tighten after tonight’s results.

Meanwhile, it’s advantage Marseille as the Ligue 1 side beat Salzburg 2-0.

Arsenal 1-1 Atletico Madrid

The telling action in north London came late on, but there was also early drama when fullback Sime Vrsalijko picked up a yellow card on just three minutes. But the Croatian didn’t worry about that, until he picked up a second seven minutes later when he tripped Alexandre Lacazette. And that meant the Gunners had 80 plus minutes to play against ten men but, well as they played, they couldn’t penetrate the depleted Atletico defence throughout the first half. Arsenal had 15 shots in the first 45 as Atleti keeper Jan Oblak made three super saves.

The Emirates crowd did everything it could to lift the team; it’s a shame they hadn’t supported the Gunners and their manager like this throughout the season. And it did the trick; Jack Wilshere played a smart one-two with Aaron Ramsey before lifting a superb cross for Lacazette to head home.

Danny Welbeck was inches away from making it two but the home crowd’s cheers turned to groans on 82 minutes when Laurent Koscielny made a hash of a clearance to give Antoine Griezmann two chances to score, and that was enough as he fired into the roof of the net. As the clock ran down Oblak made a brilliant save to deny Ramsay, but that was that; advantage Atletico.

Marseille 2-0 Salzburg

Dimitri Payet was in superb form in Marseille to help give the favourites a commanding first leg lead. The hosts were the better side from the off and former West Ham star Payet had an early sight of goal, shooting just wide. Then, on 15 minutes, the Stade Velodrome erupted as former West Ham star Payet centred for Florian Thauvin to convert from close range.

The French couldn’t add to that before the break, but Payet continued to run the show in the second half, and shortly after crossing for Thauvin to force a save, he put in Clinton N’Jie who gleefully fired into the bottom corner. 2-0, and Marseille have taken a good stride towards the final.

Karim’s the Man for Real in Epic Victory

The last four standing in this season’s Europa League come head to head in Thursday’s second legs, the prize; a place in the final in Lyon in May.

There will be nails bitten and nerves jangling in Madrid and Salzburg where visitors Arsenal and Marseille will aim to silence passionate home crowds; the Gunners with a daring smash and grab, Marseille by finishing a job already half done. It’s going to be a cracking two hours plus, and you can get a choice of the best football bets and have a great night of live football betting with SBOBET.

Atletico Madrid is the favourite to lift the title in Lyon, at odds of 1.85, with Marseille at 3.50, Arsenal 5.00 and Salzburg right out there at 15.00.

But there’s one last hurdle to jump before anyone can begin to make too many plans.

Antoine Griezmann score a huge away goal for 10-man Atleti to cancel out Alexandre Lacazette's header
Antoine Griezmann scored a huge away goal for 10-man Atleti to cancel out Alexandre Lacazette's header

Atletico Madrid vs (1-1 on agg.) Arsenal

Many of the top football betting tips were adamant the eventual winner would come from this tie and, on the evidence of the first leg, they could well be right. Arsenal put on a passionate show of football, clearly trying to do all they could for outgoing boss, Arsene Wenger. They rained shots down on Jan Oblak, but the Atleti keeper was equal to the lot, until Alexandre Lacazette finally headed past the big Slovenian early in the second half.

Antoine Griezmann’s late equaliser was a dagger through the heart of Arsene, and the legendary coach admitted 1-1 is one of the worst results you could have against the best defence in Europe. Diego Simeone’s team is in second place in La Liga and with the tightest defence, conceding just 18 goals, and none at home in the last 11 games in all competitions. That’s why Arsene knows 1-1 is not good!

But he’s putting a brave face on it, saying that the clarity of the Gunners’ objective could be an advantage: “We know we have to go there and win the game or at least score a goal to qualify,” he says. “On that front, we know exactly what we have to do.” Arsenal did open up the Atleti defence in the first leg, on many occasions, and could have been two or three up before Griezmann’s late strike, but their wastefulness and Oblak’s brilliance made it a frustrating night.

Arsenal can take more heart from their display at Old Trafford on Sunday, losing to Manchester United, but dominating for big parts of the game. And attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi is hoping to be fit, shrugging off a hamstring niggle he felt at the weekend. Meanwhile, Madrid’s Sime Vrsalijko will be absent, having picked up two early yellows in the first leg in London.

But the Spaniards are confident. Take a look at the Atletico Madrid website and you’ll see plenty of stats to tell you why they believe they’re off to Lyon. Atleti have won seven of their last nine knockout ties with English teams, while the Gunners have failed to win on any of their last seven trips to Spain, the last being a 0-1 win against Real Madrid in 2006.

The Madrid side’s success is, of course, built on its phenomenal defence, but in Griezmann, Fernando Torres and Kevin Gameiro they have the firepower to blow a, sometimes shaky, Arsenal defence away. Laurent Koscielny will still be having nightmares, having fluffed his lines to let Griezmann in at the Emirates.

If you scour the football betting websites, you won’t get a lot of cheer for Arsene, and with SBOBET Simeone’s Atletico is as low as 1.32 to progress to the final with the Gunners at 3.38.

But this is another big part of Arsene’s goodbye to the Gunners; so they’ll give it one hell of a go.

Salzburg vs (0-2 on agg.) Olympique Marseille

You could excuse the optimistic Marseille fans for already planning a trip to France’s third largest city for the final. A two-goal lead, crucially with those away goals, has shifted the odds firmly in Rudi Garcia’s side’s favour.

Salzburg is a good side, and while, at 2.07, they are favourites to edge the second leg, I think this may just be a step too far for the Austrian league leaders. Former West Ham star Dimitri Payet was in scintillating form at the Stade Velodrome, opening up the Salzburg defence almost at will, and providing for both of his team’s scorers. Florian Thauvin stuck in the first, and he’s Marseille’s biggest threat. With 20 league goals he is outscored in Ligue 1 only by PSG’s Edinson Cavani, and the former Newcastle wide man is becoming hot property.

But the Red Bull Arena will be bouncing. The first leg setback halted a run of four consecutive wins for Marco Rose’s Salzburg, and in Munas Dabbur and Valon Berisha, the hosts have a potent dual threat, each with five tournament goals. And they have recent form of upsetting the Europa odds, overcoming a two goal first-leg deficit to Lazio by promptly thumping the Italian giants 4-1.
