JB police refute allegations of traffic police accepting bribes near checkpoint towards S'pore Johor Bahru police said they took the allegations seriously, but could not find any evidence suggesting it to be true. Johor police refuted bribery allegations on Jan. 18, after a photo surfaced online suggesting that its traffic police were accepting money from motorists when carrying out enforcement duties against traffic violations. Johor Bahru Selatan police chief Raub Selamat said they took the allegations seriously, but could not find any evidence suggesting it to be true. Photo surfaced on Jan. 16 In a photo posted on "Singaporean's Guide to JB" Facebook on Jan. 16, a police officer was seen standing near a car along the road towards Singapore from Johor Bahru. The user insinuated that the officer was taking bribes from the motorist. No evidence of bribery found Raub said preliminary investigations suggested that the alleged incident occurred between 5pm and 6pm on Jan. 16, about 500m from the Sultan Iskandar Building heading towards Singapore. Four officers on duty at the time were enforcing queue regulations and 69 summonses were issued. The officers denied any form of solicitation or acceptance of money from any driver as alleged in the photo, he said in a statement. CCTV footage from the area was also reviewed and the police are attempting to identify witnesses, along with the individual who captured the photo. Raub stated that strict action would be taken against their personnel if any credible evidence of misconduct were found. He also strongly warned those spreading false or invalid information that may tarnish the Johor police's reputation, and that legal action may be taken against those responsible for such information.
