Stumbled upon this Forum when searching for something about RWS. So will like to share some of my personal thoughts of being a "reformed" Gambler.
I have been gambling seriously since I reached adult-hood. I have lost countless amount of money and came close to destroying my life with online betting, casinos, sports betting, with a huge measure of thanks, to banks that extended me credit that I ill-deserved. Credit Cards, Credit lines, transfer balances at 0%, un-secured loans ..... you name it, I had it and I busted it. I came close to bankruptcy, but managed to straved off the wolves, thanks to a good job and a good wife that managed my finances and kept my fingers off the money that I earned.
Today, I see myself as a reformed recreational gambler. My Principals in Gambling as below:
1) I am expected to lose
2) I am not afraid to lose
3) I will not play/gamble with money that I do not have
4) I will not play/gamble with money that I cannot afford to lose
5) I will make good my bets and honor all my gambling debts/losses
6) I will understand/learn everything that I bet on
7) I will not believe in betting systems
8) I will not cheat
For those studying Gambler's psychology to help problem gamblers, or collecting information for Casinos to exploit and market their "services" more effectively, I am going to volunteer my information on a platter.
Race: Chinese (I know, we Chinese are a bunch of hard-core gambling addicts)
Martial: Married but no children .... yet (If it is relevant, I absolutely love children)
Job: Well Paid job handling Sales and Operations. (sometimes I have to bring clients to the Casino!)
Salary: est annual USD90K~USD150K depending on company's performance
More about me:
Reasonably well educated, loyal to both my wife and employee (I have been married for 5 years and working for the same employer for 10 years ... haha).
I classify myself as a recreational gambler but I do have occasional blings where by I drop everything that I am doing to go on a 2-3 days gambling trip, just on a whimper or a small desire.
My favourite casino games is Baccarat where i normally play stakes of USD100~200/hand. I play some blackjack and sometimes slots machines when the Jackpot is attractive (you never know when you will get lucky!! )
I make it a point to learn the odds of the games that I am playing and will never put money down on bets that I do not understand 100%.
That is all I can think of at the moment. And if someone care enough to ask more, I will answer.

You earn so much, NO NEEDED to gamble for a living.
You can just bet for excitment upon watching live football match....

Ya, my personal opionin is NEVER EVER touch online betting!!!
It is too Convenient for our liking.
Psychologically we would go too engross into it and tends to bet every single day.
Esp when we want to re-coup our losses. Ppl go to the extent to bet unfamilar American or Brazilian League after a hectic Sunday night. There really NO end to it.This message was edited by poolfans on 26-Oct-2011 @ 3:03 PM

Agreed..Earn so much, u should be in investment and not punting. Smile

If I win US$100 per hand, you wont see me idling inside casino for the next 24 hours,
that's guaranteed.

But I like the word used very close to 烈火莫息!
