Another Mediacorp actor passes away
15 May – Recently, Mediacorp actor Dai Peng passed away due to cancer, similar to another Mediacorp actor, Huang Wenyong. Although the two are both Mediacorp actors who have succumbed to the same illness, they received vastly different media coverage.
Veteran Singaporean actor Huang Wenyong was the male lead of the first SBC epic production while Dai Peng mostly starred in supporting roles as the villain. The latter was best known for starring in the MediaCorp dramas "Kopi-O II" and "Driven By A Car".
Dai Peng, whose real name is Dai Dexin, passed away at the age of 75 on 12 May 2013 at 2.30pm. Huang Wenyong also passed away earlier from the same cancer, but he was only 60.
Dai Peng started feeling unwell a month ago, so he went to the hospital for a routine check-up. Two weeks later, while the doctor was extracting bone marrow, he discovered that the actor was suffering from lymphoma.
It was already too late for the actor, considering his age. Chemotherapy drugs were given, but Dai Peng reacted negatively to them, so treatment was stopped after a week.
Dai Peng is survived by his son, Dai Li Yao, 36, who is in the advertising industry.
Girls of the 2013 Shanghai Motorshow
No motorshow is complete without the amazing models that not only attract the hoards of testosterone driven cameramen, but also "enhance" the look of the cars on display. Auto Shanghai 2013 was no different this time around. Not only did most car manufacturers bring out their best concept cars, but they also chose some of the best looking women to complement their svelte curves. So if you've managed to get this far through the text, here are the girls from Auto Shanghai 2013!

SINGAPORE: The issues regarding town councils are complex and the deep-seated practices will not be easy to fix.
Senior Minister of State for National Development and Trade and Industry, Lee Yi Shyan, who has been tasked to head the review of town councils, said that is why he does not want to rush the review process.
In a written reply to Channel NewsAsia's queries, Mr Lee said he wants to tackle the issues sequentially.
The way town councils manage their operations has been thrown in the spotlight, following the National Development Ministry's study of the sale of the town council software to Action Information Management (AIM), which is owned by the People’s Action Party (PAP).
In his review of town councils, Mr Lee said his committee will study broad areas like the handover arrangements when members of parliament change and how to ensure long term financial responsibility.
He aims to consult widely with all stakeholders and determine how the review will be best carried out.
At the parliament sitting on May 13, the government maintained that the IT-contract transaction did not breach the town council act and that it did not cost the residents additional charges.
On the other hand, the government highlighted how the opposition incurred a higher cost when it took over the management of Aljunied town council by appointing a new management agent, FM Solutions and Services (FMSS).
National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan pointed out that in 2011, Aljunied-Hougang town council paid 20 per cent more under the management of its newly-appointed FMSS, compared to when the PAP was running......

Mr Caw, when you cannot win a debate by countering with facts why resort to personal attacks. Low class. Shame on you.

It's so very "obvious" why 'AIM' was so hurry to discontinue the service when Ajunied GRC was taken by WP lah! It's to cause disruption so that the residents will blame the opposition for being inefficient or incapable of management. Just analyse the the facial appearance of KBW in his rebuttal to... More

Khaw Boon Wan and Sylvia Lim engage in fierce debate over AIM deal

Yahoo! Newsroom - Khaw Boon Wan and Sylvia Lim engage in fierce debate over AIM deal
National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan’s ministerial statement in Parliament on Monday, which touched on town councils and the PAP-owned Action Information Management (AIM), sparked off a charged debate with some of the fiercest arguments coming from Worker’s Party (WP) chairman Sylvia Lim.
In rejecting the Ministry of National Development's (MND) finding that residents’ interests had not been compromised in a deal between PAP town councils and AIM, she questioned aspects of the AIM deal, like the nature of AIM and the one-month termination clause in the event the town council changed hands.
For example, she pointed out that the timing for the 2010 sale of the IT software to AIM was questionable.
“The timing of the sale to commence a few months before the General Elections (GE) in 2011 also calls for explanation. Was it a pure coincidence? Or was there simply a need to sell the software quickly, so that termination can be effected if political seats were lost?” she said.
To this, the Minister replied in his round-up statement, “First, the TCs brought in Deloitte & Touche (D&T) to evaluate their software, not in the year just before the 2011 GE, but as early as June 2009.” He added that the TCs’ software was also obsolete and was scheduled for replacement, with the software maintenance contract with NCS “expiring in October 2010”.
Resident’s interests at stake
Lim, who is also chairman of the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council, also attacked the reasons given for the one-month termination clause – she said they were “plainly unconvincing” and p......

Thian Hock Keng 天福宫
Temple of Heavenly Bliss
In 1840, 21 years after Raffles had established Singapore as a trading post, a Hokkien temple was built on the spot where new migrants came ashore.
This temple, known as Thian Hock Keng (天福宫), Temple of Heavenly Bliss, was built in honor of the Sea Goddess Mazu (妈祖). Early Chinese migrants left China in search of opportunities for themselves and for their families who remained in China.
The only mode of transport was by sea and migrants endured the long, uncomfortable and at times fatal journey.
They had no control over the elements, the sea conditions or the future ahead of them. Psychologically, their only hope was to ask for the blessing and protection of the sea goddess.
Upon their safe passage and arrival in Singapore, their relief can only be imagined and offering their prayers at the Thian Hock Keng was a way to show their gratitude and appreciation for the safe passage.

The Sea Goddess’s altar was originally housed in a small shrine sponsored by these grateful migrants. This humble set-up provided later migrants with an established place for their rituals and prayers, and became a focal point for the Hokkien community up to the early 20th century.
After these migrants had settled down in Singapore, the worship of the Sea Goddess continued. Successful migrants contributed to transform the shrine into an official temple.
In 1840, the Thian Hock Keng Temple was founded and served as the center of Hokkien Chinese activities in Singapore. The deities honored in the temple include Mazu 妈祖 (Sea Goddess), Baoshen Dadi 保生大帝 (Deity of medicine), Guan Gong 关公 (Deity of righteousness), and Guan Yin.
The emergence of the new Mazu temple reflected opportunities that awaited new migrants and communi......
Polytechnic student cum prostitute had MARATHON SEX with 4 different men in a day!
Posted by temasektimes on April 17, 2012
The teenage prostitute who allegedly had sex with more than 80 men once had a MARATHON session with four different men within four hours which net her $2,000 in a single day! She rested only 13 minutes in between the session.
The shocking revelation was made in court on Monday based on a ‘sex diary‘ kept by the prostitute who kept meticulous records of all the sessions she had with her clients, including their particulars, time and place.
Some of the men who had sex with her include 9 civil servants, a senior banker, a company director, a senior vice-president of a private company, lawyers, a senior police officer, as well as the former principal of Pei Chun Public School Lee Lip Hong. Their ages range from between 21 to 48 years old.
On 10 October, 2010 she had sex with four men at the following time and place:
Sng Kok Wee: Hotel 81 at 2pm.
Ng Guan Mean: M Hotel at 2.30pm.
Fong Kok Liang (41 years old): Hotel 81 at 3pm.
Foo Kim Meng (45 years old): Hotel 81 at 4pm.
Many of the men are her ‘regular’ clients. Lee Lip Hong, the former school principal of Pei Chun Public School had sex with her TWICE on 26 September and 14 December in 2010 while another man Foo Kim Meng had sex with her FOUR TIMES between October 2010 and January 2011.
The 17 year old student was studying in a local polytechnic when she started providing sex services to men, charging a premium rate of $500 per session. Her pimp 39 year old businessman Tang Boon Thiew who ‘tried’ her before would take a commission for each client she got through his online porn site.
She was described as having the following attributes on the site:
“1.60m tall, slim figure, C-cup breasts…(She) still has that naive girlishness, offers excellent sweet young thing, girlfriend experience&he......
