Christoph Metzelder: Will call it a day at the weekend

Schalke defender Christoph Metzelder has confirmed he will retire at the end of the current Bundelsiga season.
The 32-year-old former Germany international will hang up his boots after Saturday's trip to Freiburg.
"I am just being honest with myself and I feel that I am no longer physically able to play consistently at this level," he said.
"And after 13 years, the fire inside me, which is necessary for this job, has burnt out."
Metzelder ends a career which saw him wear the colours of Schalke's local rivals Borussia Dortmund and Spanish giants Real Madrid, while he also pulled on a Germany shirt 47 times.
"I look back with gratitude on a fantastic career," he said on his current club's website.
"I passed my A-levels when I was 19 and, two weeks later, I was making my debut in the Bundesliga, and I was capped for the first time just a year after.
"When I look back, I see nothing which could have gone any better. Even the injuries were part of my story."
Metzelder missed a full year due to an Achilles tendon problem while his three seasons in Spain were blighted by knocks and niggles.
"I was very close to having to end my career back then - I still have a letter from my health insurance company declaring I was unable to play sport again," he said.
"I was only 23, but I fought my way back and experienced many great years, including participating in the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008."
Reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup on home turf seven years ago remains the stand-out moment for the centre-half.
"That is the highlight of my career," he said.
"Those seven weeks, from the first training camp with Jurgen Klinsmann in Sardinia to the reception in front of a million fans in front of the Brandenburg Gate was the greatest time I ever experienced as a professional footballer.
"It was amazing and certainly none of us will ever forget it. I wrote a diary at the time and maybe I...... |

SINGAPORE: Former Belarus manager Bernd Stange has been picked to be the new coach of the Singapore Lions.
The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has chosen the 65-year-old German as a replacement for Raddy Avramovic, who retired after the Lions lifted the ASEAN Football Federation's Suzuki Cup in December 2012.
Stange's appointment signalled the intention of the FAS to bring Singapore's football to greater heights.
He showed his optimism towards the Lions, saying that "Singapore football is a rock. A rock in the future."
The German has plenty of coaching experiences with various European clubs such as Hertha Berlin, Lokomotive Leipzig and CSKA Kiev. He also guided the national teams of Oman, Iraq and the then-East Germany.
His last coaching job was with Belarus, who are currently ranked 69th in the world. Stange was with Belarus from 2007 to 2011.
His more than 30 years of experience has seen him working in difficult environments and turning teams around -- qualities that would hold him in good stead for his latest challenge.
Among his goals, to improve the Lions' ranking of 165 and mentor local coaches.
Other targets include the 2013 SEA Games, where he is to work with Coach V Sundramoorthy, and lead the Lions for the upcoming Asian Cup qualifiers.
The new man praised his predecessor and is looking forward to helping the national team defend their AFF Suzuki Cup title in 2014.
"It is a great challenge, there is a good strategy for the future, there is a clear announcement of goals and I appreciate there is not too much pressure for the next game. It is a mid-term project and I believe in this project," said Stange.

LONDON (AFP) - Long-serving Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes announced his retirement for a second time on Saturday - just days after veteran manager Alex Ferguson said he would be standing down at the end of the season.
Former England international Scholes, 38, first quit in 2011 to take up a position on United's coaching staff but returned to first team action in January last year.
"Yes, I am finally hanging up my boots for good," said Scholes, who is expected to make his first appearance since January in Sunday's Premier League match against Swansea at Old Trafford - Ferguson's final home match as United manager.
"Playing football is all I have ever wanted to do and to have had such a long and successful career at Manchester United, under the greatest manager of all time, has been an honour," Scholes added.

I disagree......if u observe properly.....spools like to lay traps....
They select games tat is tough to predict...deny pple frm betting those easy win bet.

Also they open certain special tat they think will upset....so its always one fav one super outsider open...kill fav n those who cover.

Former Leicester City manager Peter Taylor has emerged as a leading candidate for the post of Singapore’s national coach.
Sources told The New Paper that the 60-year-old Englishman (above) fits the bill to replace Radojko Avramovic, who left after leading the Lions to a record fourth Asean title last December.
However, Taylor’s salary could be a stumbling block.
TNP understands that the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has settled on their choice for the next national coach and will unveil him this month.
Said a source: “The FAS will appoint a well-respected coach, with better credentials than Raddy when he was appointed in 2003. “In fact, outside of Japan and South Korea, he will have no problems getting a job, with his credentials.”
It is believed that FAS’s top candidate is aged between 50 and 65, and has coached within and outside Europe, including more than one national team. He is also a firm believer in youth development.
One coach who was contacted by the FAS is Irishman Brian Kerr, who coached the Ireland and Faroes Islands national teams. He said he had an "extensive meeting" in London with FAS president Zainudin Nordin, but has yet to be invited to come to Singapore.

In this post i m referring to lazio ht draw is a low 1.95 but over 2.5 is also low...usually e odds is higher.
Also a torino draw at $1.80 vs $1.50 for under,merely 30c diff u get more cover as low scoring draw is expected.....under cover 0-0,1-0,0-1,1-1...so its a more value bet than draw at $1.80.....if like parma game,draw at a low $2.20 but parma won 1-0...if gotten under bet,one will have won.

I move frm place to place and try same outcome....occasionally a spike of signal it connect...seq it didnt complete load e page or keep processing.my note doesnt exp such prolong period of not abling to connect.this time also exp suddenly lost of signal (meaning no 3g icon at all)

But the distance matter.....i have a nearer outlet but rarely went now.
Some outlets machines cant accept those big sheet bet slips,they make it sound like here cant la,go elsewhere atitude .
Its their losses coz big tics mean many bets. |

Sometimes they forgotten who is their real pay master....its e punters.
Amazing lately one auntie process my tics,so after offset purchase im left with abt $19.60 i pass her 40c so i can get 2 red notes whole number...wat shock me next is she refuse to take and say she has many coins and she pointed her coin in front of her to me.frankly speaking its not much,under $10.she insist on paying me e actual.
In the first place i merely pass her afew coins,40c alot?
Can she refuse my coins when gov rule say up to $2 coins can be accepted.
Really roll my eyeballs ...and many atimes they gossip abt punters bought previously. |

Scare those that shortchange me.kena many times the staff never clear e purchases bought by previous customer and the purchase will be counted as urs...many atimes i buy and offset with winning tics,so need to be careful...always make sure the screen u see is spools logo page.if not u be paying for bets not urs.
One auntie work 10-20 yrs,still work like a newbie..tic 1 in 1 out,slot tic in always rebound out...shortchange,never process my winning tic.
When wanna amend esp,the face black until despite e fact i seldom amend.got one auntie lately kena complain,after incident still tat yaya look.

Ah lai any problem with posting new thread?
I experience this....when key in thread title and use till max cap words,the post will "hang"...not able to back space to clear and using back button or refresh button,a new post pop up without any wording tat i previously keyed in but i cant key in any new words,the words just wont appear.

It’s not something the coffee shop patrons were used to seeing.
A man tossing his two-year-old son several times in the air, then mumbling to himself.
It was enough to worry some and one called the police.
On Tuesday, patrons at the coffee shop at Block 18, Bedok South Road, were surprised to see the man tossing his child in the air several times at about 1.50pm.
A woman in her 50s, who had witnessed the incident, said the sight frightened several customers.
She said: “The man was tossing the child over and over again. He was muttering something we didn’t understand."

U fine them,end up is e commuters pocket hurt....coz it erode their profit margin,just that they didnt openly mention here...so if its down,they say they dun earn enough.....
Also with frequent breakdowns incidents,these down period they dun get to earn any fare and end up having to refund those who are affected.
But they telling u due to rising cost.hmmmmmm

Under his charge, ex-army officer Desmond Kuek, president and chief executive officer, SMRT has just fired a shot across the bow: SMRT warned that its profitability will be further eroded in the next 12 months by the “continuing misalignment between fares and operating costs”. That has to be cryptic military code for justifying another round of fare increases.
Although revenue increased 5.9 per cent to $1.1 billion, the company’s net profit declined 30.5 per cent to $83.3 million. SMRT’s operational costs in the first three months of this year rose 12.9 per cent from the same quarter last year, due to higher train and staff costs. Imagine, staff costs taking as significant a bite of the operating revenue as train costs. How much are the ex-officers paid anyway? |
